Support FRI

There are many ways that you can support undergraduate research at The University of Texas at Austin and make a lasting impact on the student experience at the university.
Gifts
The unique learning model of the FRI entails frequent faculty/student contact and cutting edge equipment. It therefore requires a great deal of resources. Please consider giving if you support the FRI's innovative mix of research and education, if you wish to play a part in any of the groundbreaking research taking place in the FRI, or if a family member has benefited from the FRI.
Scholarships, fellowships and endowments of various types are a great way to support students in the FRI program and beyond. Funds can be used to cover tuition costs, pay for trips to professional conferences, and help students study (and research) abroad. The opportunities for supporting students are really endless.
To learn more about specific ways you can give to FRI and its students, investigate some simple ways to make an investment here or get in touch with the College of Natural Sciences Development Office. Industry Partnerships
FRI is a platform that is mutually beneficial to students, faculty and the research infrastructure of The University of Texas at Austin. The program has fully integrated the research and educational communities at the university and has great potential for industry collaboration and integration. In fact, FRI is structured to blur the line between teaching, academic
research and industry research.
We eagerly anticipate the participation of innovative industry leaders. FRI has already begun to partner with interested companies willing to provide research internships for our trained and vetted students.
There is incredible potential for customized research streams that allow industry partners to collaborate with research faculty to develop streams that address a common research goal while impacting, training and potentially recruiting future scientists.

Community
FRI fosters a community on campus of students at all levels, researchers and faculty who are excited about science, education and the future. Events throughout the year offer opportunities for this community and the local Austin business and educational community to engage, celebrate and devlope new relationships.
The 2012 FRI Open House will be Wednesday, October 24th in the Student Activities Center Ballroom (SAC 2.410).
Innovation drives economic leadership and is fueled by graduates in science, technology and math. The FRI program is producing innovators in these areas like no program before it and at a scale that has never been attempted. Its graduates are poised and sophisticated with a striking ability to problem solve and think critically, all qualities that are a natural outcome of the research process. At the Open House, FRI students will take you on tours of the labs that foster their research innovations and give them context to what they learn in the classroom. These students are glimpsing the boundless possibilities that could be applied to everything from renewable energy to cyber security to more effective cancer treatments.
This is a great opportunity for invited industry to learn first-hand about the FRI program on campus. Please contact Dr. Sarah Simmons, Assistant Dean (s.l.simmons@mail.utexas.edu) if you are interested in attending the 2013 FRI Open House.
